Day by day itinerary
Upon your arrival at Leh Airport, a Travel Astu representative will facilitate a seamless transfer to your hotel. This entire day is strictly dedicated to acclimatization. Relax, hydrate, and enjoy a light buffet lunch as your body adjusts to the 3,500m altitude.
Overnight: Leh (Premium Hotel)
A second day of rest to ensure your safety for the trek ahead. In the afternoon, join your licensed city guide for a gentle walking tour of the Leh Palace and the Shanti Stupa, offering panoramic views of the Indus Valley and the Stok Range.

We drive to the trailhead at Zingchen. Here, our pony team loads the expedition gear while you begin a 4-hour trek through a dramatic, narrow gorge. Enter the Hemis National Park and ascend to the tiny hamlet of Yurutse.
Overnight: Yurutse (Luxury Expedition Camp)
A challenging 7-8 hour day. We ascend to the Ganda La Pass (4,800m) for your first look at the majestic peaks of the Zanskar range. After a celebratory break at the summit, enjoy a long, scenic descent into the village of Skiu, located at the river's confluence.
Overnight: Skiu (Expedition Camp)
A 6-7 hour trek along the winding Markha River. The trail is dotted with lush willow trees and ancient stone walls. We cross the river several times before arriving in Markha Village, the largest settlement in the valley, featuring a historic monastery perched on a cliff.
Overnight: Markha
A 4-5 hour trek that takes you past the spectacular Techa Monastery. The valley widens as we move toward the high pastures of Thochuntse. Keep an eye out for the Blue Sheep (Bharal) that frequent the surrounding rocky slopes.
Overnight: Thochuntse (Expedition Camp)
A steady 4-hour climb leads you to the stunning Nimaling Plateau. This is one of the most beautiful high-altitude pastures in Ladakh, dominated by the towering, snow-capped Kang Yatse Peak (6,400m). Watch local shepherds tend to their flocks in this alpine paradise.
Overnight: Nimaling (Luxury Expedition Camp)
The "Queen Stage" of the trek. A strenuous ascent brings you to the summit of Kongmaru La Pass (5,150m), the highest point of the journey. After soaking in the views of the Karakoram Range, we descend through a deep, colorful canyon to Sumdo, where your private Travel Astu vehicle waits to whisk you back to Leh.
