Day by day itinerary
Upon arrival at Leh Airport, a Travel Astu representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. This entire day is dedicated to acclimatization. Enjoy a warm buffet lunch and dinner at the hotel while your body adjusts to the 3,500m altitude.
Overnight: Leh
Drive across the legendary Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads on earth. Descend into the lush Nubra Valley and check into your luxury camp. Spend the afternoon witnessing the dramatic contrast of green orchards and white sand dunes.
Overnight: Nubra Valley (Luxury Camp)
Meet your camel caravan and begin a 4 to 5-hour safari toward the pasture grounds of Biri Thompo. Ride through the wide valley floor, following the paths used by ancient traders. Our support team will have your expedition camp ready upon arrival.
Overnight: Biri Thompo (Tented Camp)
A day of exploration on foot. Trek through the surrounding hills of Biri Thompo (approx. 4 hours) to capture panoramic views of the Shyok River and the Karakoram Range. Return to the comfort of your base camp for an evening under the stars.
Overnight: Biri Thompo
A 4-hour camel trek brings you back toward the main Nubra circuit. Visit the Diskit Monastery, home to the giant Maitreya Buddha, before returning to your luxury resort for a well-deserved hot shower.
Overnight: Nubra Valley
Board your private Travel Astu vehicle for the return journey over the pass to Leh. The evening is yours to explore the local bazaar for pashmina shawls, turquoise jewelry, and Tibetan handicrafts.
