TAJ MAHAL - Little needs to be said about this architectural wonder which is always the soul raison-de-etre for every tourist's visit to Agra. Built by Shah Jahan, the Taj is a white marble memorial to his beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. This monument took 22 years to be completed and was designed, and planned by Persian architect Ustad Isa. Apart from its stunning design balance and perfect symmetry, the Taj is also noted particularly for its elegant domes, intricately carved screens and some of the best inlay work ever seen.

After Taj Mahal, back to hotel for breakfast, have breakfast.

Then check-out and proceed for the sightseeing of Agra.

AGRA FORT – The red sandstone structure is surrounded by chahar-bagh, a four-square formal garden. Built by the famed Mughal emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, the fort is predominantly of red sandstone.  Ensconced within is the picture-perfect Pearl Mosque, which is a major tourist attraction. It lies on the bend of the river Yamuna, almost in the heart of the town. Akbar built it as his citadel over the years 1563-73 in the finest architectural style. It has imposing gates and walls of red sandstone and a moat.

After Agra Fort, we will visit BABY TAJ or the ITMAD-UD-ULLAH – The interiors of which are considered better than the Taj. One of the most beautiful Mughal tombs, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb was built by Nur Jahan, the Empress of Jahangir for her father in 1628. The tomb is a resting place of the powerful personality in Mughal Court, Itmad-Ud-Daulah, whose life is very interesting. Formerly a very poor Persian merchant then named Mirza Ghiyas or Ghiyas Beg he became a minister and a trusted treasure in Akbar's court. After Akbar's death in 1605, his son Jahangir rose into power. Jahangir made Ghiyas Beg his chief minister and honored him with the title of Itmad-Ud-Daulah, the Pillar of State. Later, Jahangir met a beautiful daughter of Ghiyas Beg named Mehr-Un-Nissa and married her. Mehr-Un-Nissa soon played a significant role in the Jahangir's court and was called Nur Mahal, the light of the Place. Owing to her influence, her father and brother were granted with privileges in the court. When Ghiyas beg (Itmad-Un-Daulah) dies in 1622, Nur Mahal decided to build a mausoleum for him. Queen Mumtaz Mahal or the lady of the Taj was also from this prevailing family. The mausoleum is entirely made of white marble and graced with intricate decoration of inlay work, and marble-screen work belonging to the Islamic style. With its tranquil, small garden on the bank of Yamuna River, the tomb stands impressively elegant from a distance.

In evening visit MEHTAB GARDEN - This garden is very famous for spotting Taj Mahal from a distance with view of Yamuna River. The garden is square shaped and perfectly aligned with the wonder, which is found on the other side of the river. (If time available)

If you like, we will also take you to most beautiful live show of Agra: KALAKRITI – MOHABBATE-A-TAJ SHOW. It’s really beautiful show where you will enjoy live performance by hundreds of artists showing history of Taj Mahal. JAIPUR: Jaipur is the capital of the state of Rajasthan a romantic realm of resplendent palaces, mighty fortresses and regal Maharajahs that lies in the western deserts and is an utterly unique part of India. Proudly belonging to the KSHATRIYA warrior caste and fiercely independent, the Rajput princes made fearsome foes. However, many of them realized that to maintain their wealth and authority locally, it was expedient to proclaim allegiance to the central power. Thus, many enjoyed a privileged position under the Mughal emperors and also the British Raj that followed.

The bustling Rajasthan capital of Jaipur takes its name from its venerated founder Jai Singh II, who was given the title Sawai Maharaja by the Mughal. Literally translated this would mean ’one and a quarter’, suggesting that the Mughal thought this emperor to be more valuable than just ‘one’. Jaipur is known as the ’Pink City’ on account of the distinctive color of its buildings. This did not, however, form part of the original plan, but dates back to 1856, when the city was given a wash of pink in honor of a state visit from Prince Albert.

Its kaleidoscope of fairy-tale palaces, lakes, temples, gardens and narrow lanes strewn with stalls, carry the flavour of a heroic past, epitomizing valor and chivalry. Their reflection in the placid waters of the LAKE PICHOLA is an enticing sight.

Udaipur is the jewel of MEWAR -a kingdom ruled by the SISODIA dynasty for 1200 Years.

Proceed for sightseeing tour of Udaipur, stopping first at City Palace.

CITY PALACE: Standing on the east bank of Lake Pichola, is a massive series of palaces built at different times from 1559 A.D. The balconies of the palace provide panoramic views of "Jag Niwas" (the world wide famous Lake palace hotel), Jag Mandir on one side and on the other the city of Udaipur. Its main entrance is through the triple-arched gate - the Tripolia, built in 1725. The way now leads to a series of courtyards, overlapping parations, terraces, corridors and gardens - a harmonic profusion hard to describe. There is a Suraj Gokhda, where the maharanas of Mewar presented themselves in the times of trouble to the people to restore confidence. The Mor-chowk (Peacock courtyard), gets its name from the vivid mosaics in glass decorating its walls. The chini chitrashala is noteworthy while a series of wall paintings of KRISHNA are on display in Bhim Vilas. There are numerous other palaces such as Dilkhush Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Mahal and Krishna Vilas - in memory of a princess of striking beauty who poisoned herself to avert a bloody battle for her hand by rival princess. SAHELIYON KI BARI: Maharana Sangram Singh builds this in the mid 18th century. The 'garden of the maidens' brings to mind the lifestyle of the ladies of the court. The delightful gardens appear discreet and in impeccable taste. There are four pools with dainty kiosks, and all around are flowerbeds, lawns, pools and fountains protected by a series of walls and shady trees. The Foundation of the Sahelion ki bari functions solely by water pressure and no pumps are used. The garden has a lotus pool, a sitting room decorated with paintings and glass mosaics. The whole ambience is flavored by the nostalgia of those beautiful bells enjoying themselves in a lavish aura.

JAGDISH TEMPLE: The temple is situated in the middle of the city. The temple of Jagannath Rai, now called Jagdish-ji, is a major monument and should be seen carefully. Raised on a tall terrace and completed in 1651, it is a tribute alike to the tenacity of its builders and the resilence of the art tradition it represents. It attaches a double storeyed Mandapa (hall) to a double - storied, saandhara (that having a covered ambulatory) sanctum. The mandapa has another storey tucked within its pyramidal samavarna (bell - roof) while the hollow clustered spire over the sanctum contains two more, non - functional stories. Lanes taking off from many of the sheharpanah (city wall) converge on the Jagdish Temple and walking leisurely through them brings you face with the many layers of the cultural palimpsest that Udaipur is. It was built by Maharana Jagat Singh Ist in 1651 A.D.

MAHARANA PRATAP SMARAK (MEMORIAL): A very interesting monument steeped in the history of the famed ruler. Located in the picturesque background of the beautiful lake, a visit to this important spot is worthwhile. Known for his bravery and gallantry, Maharana Pratap is one of the greatest warriors in the history of India. Pratap ruled over Udaipur for about 27 years from 1572 to 1597. One of the most glorious battles fought by Pratap Singh of Sisodia Rajput dynasty was the Battle of Haldighati. The Memorial is built to honor his courage and valor. Hence a life-sized bronze statue of Maharana Pratap is made along with his loyal horse, Chetak.

BAGORE KI HAVELI: Bagore ki Haveli is an opulent gracious palace which was built in the eighteenth century on the waterfront of Lake Pichola. Boasting of over a hundred rooms which have elaborate exhibits done up in mirror and glass works, the haveli was built by the Prime Minister of Mewar Kingdom- Amar Chand Badwa. Beautiful paintings and murals from the mewar era adorn the walls of the palace; the Queen’s Chamber is the most popular of the lot which has on display two very gorgeous glass and mirror sculptures of peacocks. Restored and renovated time and again, the haveli has been finally converted into a museum that is thronged by not just regular tourists but also history buffs and culture explorers.

DHAROHAR FOLK DANCE: The highlight of the Bagore ki haveli is the popular Dharohar Dance Show that is held here every evening which showcases the culture and folk tradition of Rajasthan. The Dharohar Folk Dance performance, held at Lok Dharohar Haveli, is one of the highlights of Udaipur, India’s so-called City of Lakes. This show celebrates the cultural heritage of Rajasthan with folk dances, music and a puppet show.

Your Questions and our Answers (FAQs)

Is 9 days enough to see all these cities comfortably?

What is the "Family Table India" experience?

It is a unique opportunity to step inside a real Indian home. Through Family Table India, we arrange for our guests to enjoy a home-cooked meal, participate in a cooking demonstration, and engage in genuine cultural storytelling with a local family.

What is the best time of year for this 9-day Rajasthan trip?

The ideal time is from October to March. During these months, the desert sun is pleasant, making it perfect for exploring forts and palaces. The evenings in Jodhpur and Udaipur can be quite cool, adding to the charm of the journey.

Will I have the same car and driver for the entire trip?

Yes, you will have a dedicated private air-conditioned vehicle and a professional, English-speaking driver from your arrival in Delhi until your departure from Udaipur. This ensures a seamless and comfortable travel experience.

How long are the drives between cities?

Most drives average between 4 to 6 hours. We schedule departures to ensure you arrive at your next destination by mid-afternoon, allowing for a relaxed evening or some light local exploration.

Are the entry fees to monuments included in the package?

Our standard packages include the vehicle, driver, and guides. We usually keep monument entrance fees separate so you have the flexibility to choose which sites you wish to enter, though we can easily include them upon request.

What should I wear while visiting the holy city of Pushkar?

Pushkar is a very sacred town. We recommend dressing modestly—ensuring shoulders and knees are covered. It is also customary to remove your shoes when approaching the lake ghats or entering temples.

Can this tour be customized if I want to stay longer in Udaipur?

Absolutely. All our itineraries are fully customizable. If you wish to add an extra night in the romantic city of Udaipur or perhaps include a village safari near Jodhpur, we can tailor the plan to your specific interests.
